Laid back environment with great value food and drinks

First time at RSL and we are not members just attending a social event with our workplace. Upon entering hall and main area we were told hats were not allowed inside which was ok as we were new to this place. Staff came across as very rude and unhelpful talking at us like we had covid and instead of informing us what there procedures were. My kids were also told not to come inside because of the bar but other members kids were inside. Food was below average, waited 10 minutes for semi warm food, not hot. Kitchen staff were helpful but just overall felt like we were unwelcomed and we will never return because of this. My grandfather and father both served in the NZ Army and have always told me to hold high respect for such places as RSLs but this is one place that will not be missed.
